Advent 2022: Be Hopeful

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)

When my parents got divorced, I found myself constantly asking why this was happening to me. My world was collapsing, and I felt helpless knowing there was nothing I could do. At the time, I had not joined South Main and I wasn't attending church regularly. I lost sight in my faith, not because I was angry with God, but because I just wasn't connected. Although I hoped things could be different, I had to learn to accept this was the path God made for me. I realized God was working through me and while some doors were being closed, new doors were opening.

I found South Main, and it was the best thing I could have hoped for. I connected with people who helped me gain perspective of what it means to be in a loving community, and I learned you are never alone in facing the challenges of life. My trust in God became stronger knowing He has a reason for everything and I am hopeful everything is going to work out through God's will. Even though there are times where life gets tough, I know God is always in control.

Romans 8:18 has comforted me in times of doubt. "I consider our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

Life is full of obstacles, some of which we might not know about the outcome. However, we have to remember that God has made a path for each one of us, and we have to be hopeful and trust in Him, knowing that there is going to be a greater glory revealed in us.
