Psalm 100:1-5

Long before there was a Bible, the ancient people of Israel sang their songs - regardless of how they felt: sad, afraid, lonely, happy - and they sang from their hearts. The Book of Psalms is usually referred to as the ?hymn book? of the Bible. This particular ?song? is a song for giving thanks! The early worshippers expressed in this song their six great beliefs: The Lord is good. He is our Creator. We are His People. The Lord is good. His love endures forever. His faithfulness endures to all generations.

The singers of old would sing this song as they were about to enter the Temple gates and pass through the courts for a service of thanksgiving, never growing weary of offering their praise and thanksgiving unto God!

Dear God, may we always ?come before your presence with singing? and ?enter your gates with thanksgiving,?in full expression of our love for You and Your Son Jesus - especially on this? the birthday of The King!

Amen.
