Family Ministry Happenings

There are five core values that shape and inform all that takes place within the Family Ministry at South Main Baptist Church. One of those held values is safety as we are committed to ensuring both parents and children feel safe upon entering the doors. We promise to do everything in our power to ensure your children are cared for within a safe and nurturing environment so they can better learn and experience God's Word. One of the ways we uphold the value of safety is by requiring all adult volunteers to complete a Background Check and Child Safety Training course each year before serving.

It is likely you have seen one of our volunteers monitoring each age-specific area on Sunday mornings. These volunteers are known as our JVs, which are named after our very own Johnny Villasenor. For many years, Johnny served and monitored our areas to ensure the children were kept safe at all times. Through the ways he faithfully served, we realized one way we could be better would be to find "Johnny Villasenors" for all of our areas. Thus, we coined the name JVs. The responsibility of the JVs is to perform a safety check on their designated area to ensure they remain in great condition and to monitor the flow of traffic. A JV is responsible for each of our four ministry areas during each of the worship and bible study hours. If you happen to run into our JVs, Kyle Barsch, Matthew Bryant, Chris Hassig, Leon Holubec, Mike Herrmann, Suzann Herrmann, Josh Rollins, Murphy Anderson, and Bill Moore, please let them know how thankful you are for them. We are so grateful for the ways they serve the families at South Main by helping us uphold the value of safety each and every week.
