Lenten Devotional: February 14

Love each other as I have loved you. — John 15:12

I find God anew when I am a conduit of his love. South Main's January sermons and a meditation by Archbishop Desmond Tutu led me to make a new commitment to share God's love. Years ago I communicated God's love as a writer sharing the gospel with thousands of nameless and faceless people. Nowadays my calling is to serve specific individuals, persons who can experience God's love through me.

I have not abandoned sharing his love through my current ministries such as teaching English as a second language class. However I am seeking additional ways to show love. In January, I enlisted Christian friends to assist as I began to act on my resolution; sharing God's love sometimes takes a village. More recently I have taken actions to heal a severed relationship with a friend. Additionally, each day I seek to purposely take simple actions such as sharing a smile or speaking an encouraging word.

When I live as a woman for others, I do not have to seek God because he and I are a team, committed to sharing his love.
