Acts

Acts 2:16–21

It’s Pentecost Sunday this Sunday, and our message will focus on the Holy Spirit’s work as well as Peter’s Pentecost message from the Book of Joel to those present on that momentous day. While many believe that the days of spiritual visions and divine dreams are something relegated to the church’s past, a deeper analysis of our actual experience is that God still broadcasts to us through the power of the Holy Spirit and changes the course of history through us just as God did in the past. As such, we will sing hymns related to the Spirit’s power in lives past and present: On Pentecost They Gathered, Spirit of the Living God, and Sweet, Sweet Spirit. The South Main Bronze will lead us in worship, ringing out the Spirit’s presence, and Andrea Hoxie and Finley Walton will sing an original duet about the Acts of the Apostles. This Sunday also marks the culmination of the collection of our church’s Missions Offering as we worship on this Pentecost Sunday.

Good News Preview – May 19

We remember Pentecost this Sunday and look at the work of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:16–21 and in the book of Joel through Peter's message of Pentecost. As we look at the promise of the Holy Spirit for the Church to live the good news through us now and forever.

Monday Over Coffee: "Our Impossible Problems"

Have you ever faced a problem that seemed like it had no answer? An impossible situation? Something insurmountable? Are you facing something like this right now? Esther Klein was born in Budapest in 1910. She loved physics. She loved geometry. She loved math so much that she started a math club with some of her friends, other Hungarian students, with whom she met every Sunday afternoon in one of the city’s beautiful parks.
